On 27 August 2013, almost a year after the beginning of direct negotiations on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement and despite having signed 97 of the 115 clauses from the list of demands, INCASA’s insistence on implementing a new salary scale and a roster for newly hired employees forced the Sindicato de Trabajadores de la Industria de Café SA (SITINCA) to begin strike proceedings.
