Camboya - Authorities deny permit to celebrate International Women’s Day (2012)

On 7 March, the authorities refused to deliver a permit for a public gathering due to be held in Phnom Penh to celebrate International Women’s Day on 8 March. No grounds were given for the refusal. The gathering had been organised by a trade union platform, the Cambodian Women’s Movement Organisation (CWMO), and the Minister of Women’s Affairs was scheduled to speak at the event. March 8 is a public holiday in Cambodia.
