Pakistán - Eighteen protesting teachers beaten and arrested

On 28 June 2014, the Khairpur Police lead a baton charge against protesting teachers, and then arrested at least 18 of them, when they tried to stage a sit-in in front of the CM’s house, Khairpur.

The teachers had marched through the streets of Khairpur to the CM’s house protesting the fact that they had not been issued with their appointment letters, despite having successfully passed the NTS test.

The victims demand the immediate release of their colleagues and appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take a suo moto notice of the police torture and violence.
