Workers who threaten to go on strike often face intimidation. In March 2015, for example, a group of coach drivers was planning to strike for better pay. The employer of the coach company dismissed all workers before the strike, and hired replacement labour. This is a fairly common practice, according to the Hong Kong Confederation of Trade Unions (HKCTU).
