Turquía - Arrest and detention of Tüm Bel-Sen representative (2010)

On 17 June, Mr Metin Findik, Cizre-Sirnak representative of Tüm Bel-Sen, a municipal services’ union affiliated to Public Services International (PSI), was arbitrarily arrested after his house was searched by the police. He was transported to Mardin, where he was detained in an E-type closed prison. By the end of the year, he had spent six months in detention without being informed of any charges against him. Furthermore, his lawyers had been denied access to the investigation files, through a decision of the public prosecutor of Diyarbakir.
