On 5 July, Pullman Jakarta dismissed Husni Mubarok, president of the independent national hotel and restaurant workers’ federation FSPM.
By October, support for the union and its dismissed leader had spread. Members of the independent national food and beverage workers federation FSBMM from five cities joined in protests to call for his reinstatement, but management refused to meet or negotiate with any union representatives.
