Pakistán - Inadmissible statement from Chief Justice against unions

In July of 2018, Chief Justice Saqib Nisar was reported as saying publicly that, if the Constitution of Pakistan did not permit trade unions, he would have banned them. This discussion of the judicial abolition of trade unions is a troubling statement, and represents a clear threat to the exercise of workers’ freedom of association and workers’ rights generally in Pakistan.
