Pakistán - Trade Union leader killed in powerloom factory

Labour leader Abdul Khaliq Sher was killed after attending a meeting with the power loom factory owner, Muhammad Jamil, on Gojra-Samundri Road. The police reported that Jamil and Khaliq exchanged harsh words after which the former, along with his accomplices Malik Amjad and Muhammad Tariq, shot dead Abdul Khaliq Sher. On 9 March 2018, workers at the factory went on strike to protest the murder of their trade union leader. The Gojra Bar Association members had also observed strike. The Saddar police said raids were being conducted to arrest the suspects.
